In a recent op-ed published in the Washington Times, Congressman Bob Latta, representing Ohio’s 5th district and chairing the Energy Subcommittee, outlined his comprehensive strategy for achieving American energy dominance. The congressman emphasized collaboration with the Republican majority in Congress and the Trump administration.

Latta states, “With global tensions on the rise and energy prices increasing across the country, the new administration has made one thing quite clear: American energy dominance is no longer a goal—it’s a necessity.” He argues that a robust energy policy is crucial for the nation’s economic growth, national security, and the well-being of American workers.

In his strategic plan, Latta calls for a significant increase in domestic energy production. During a recent Energy Subcommittee hearing, he inquired with Regional Transmission Organizations and Independent System Operators about the nation’s energy needs. “Every witness said America needs to produce more energy to meet the growing demand.” He highlights the necessity for continuous energy production, saying, “More energy is needed for consumers, small and large manufacturers, agriculture, and medical facilities.”

Latta identifies the growing demand from AI data centers as a primary driver of the increased energy requirements. With data centers’ load growth tripling over the past decade and expected to continue rising, Latta underscores the critical link between energy security and national security.

In conclusion, he advocates for an energy policy that emphasizes innovation, affordability, and reliability to secure a prosperous and secure future for the United States.
