City of Tiffin issued the following announcement on March 3.

Mike Homan has been promoted to Deputy Chief of the Tiffin Fire/Rescue Division. The announcement was made official during a swearing in ceremony Thursday afternoon with Homan, who took the oath beside two firefighter/EMTs who recently joined the department.

Homan has been with Tiffin Fire/Rescue Division since January of 2008, when he joined as a firefighter/paramedic. He was promoted to lieutenant in June 2019. For the past few years, Homan has been in charge of the training program for the department and has been heavily involved in training for the past 10 years.

Homan started his career in public service at the Willard Fire Department, and has worked with the Bloomville Fire Department and Seneca County EMS and Echo unit. He has a wife and three children.

“I’m very excited about this opportunity,” Homan said. “I’m excited to join the Fire Chief and help to implement many of the great ideas he has to improve the department. While I will miss being with my crew, I look forward to continuing to work with everyone in the department in this new role.”

Fire Chief Rob Chappell was pleased to make the announcement: “I can’t overstate my excitement. His work as lieutenant has demonstrated he’s ready to take the next step in the administration of this department. I’m looking forward to working with him as he develops his abilities as Deputy Chief.

As well as Homan, firefighter/EMTs Daniel Frankart and Layne McNeal were both sworn in during the ceremony Thursday. Frankart and McNeal started with the department on Jan. 10.

Tiffin Mayor Aaron Montz said, “Mike Homan will be a tremendous asset to the Fire/Rescue Division as the new Deputy Chief and I look forward to seeing the great things that he and Chief Chappell will achieve in their department together. I’m also thrilled to welcome Daniel Frankart and Layne McNeal to the City of Tiffin and hope continued success for them both for years to come.”
