Heidelberg University football team's Parker Smith earned OAC Player of the Week after a solid punt game against Mount Union on Saturday.
This weekend, the senior recorded eight tackles along with eight punts. Those kicks averaged 40.4 yards and even landed two inside the Mount Union 15.
The West Salem native serves double duty as a dominant linebacker and punter. After taking over punting his sophomore season, Smith has shown to be successful in the position.
This season Smith has kicked for 958 yards and averages 40.72 yards per punt.
In his career, Smith has racked up quite a trophy case. He was named D3football.com Third Team (2021), OAC First Team (2021), OAC Honorable Mention (2020-21), OAC Second Team (2019) and aims for more this season.
Heidelberg is currently 4-2 (3-2 OAC), and is on their bye week -- resting up for their last four games of the season. The Student Princes return to action for Homecoming on Oct. 22 with a 2 p.m. kick against Marietta.
