City Engineer Reminds Residents of Resources for Marking Sewer Lines

With recent city-wide utility projects being completed now, the City of Tiffin Engineer’s office is reminding residents to call if they have any questions regarding the location of the sewer laterals running from their home to the main line.

In the event of a notification of a dig to the Ohio Utilities Protection Service (OUPS), utility providers are to mark their lines in the right of way with flags. City of Tiffin Public Works will mark sewer main lines in the right of way, but do not mark the sewer laterals running to the home, as these are the responsibility of the homeowner.

As public projects continue throughout the community, residents are encouraged to contact the Engineer’s Office during normal business hours (8 a.m.-4 p.m. Monday-Friday) at (419) 448-5425 or email tiffinengineers@tiffinohio.gov to see if the office has information regarding their sewer laterals.

Contractors and residents should call the OUPS at 811 a least two business days before a planned dig to request utility markings. For more information, visit www.oups.org.

For residents with questions concerning the Omni Fiber construction project going on now, email customerservice@omnifiber.com or call 1 (844) 844-6664.
