Bean drops career high in loss to Alma | Heidelberg University

The Heidelberg University women's basketball team dropped its final game of 2022, falling in a rare Tuesday matinee to Alma College, 64-50. In the loss, center Cheyanne Bean dropped a career-high 13 points.

Bean was one of four players with at least nine points for Heidelberg, which slipped to 2-9 overall.  Elisha Carter added 10, while Sequoia Bradley and Alyssa Martin each added nine.

Alma's Taylor Sas dominated the first quarter, scoring 12 of her team's 22 points. Sas drilled three 3-pointers and helped the Scots build an 11-point lead. Heidelberg found success with Alyssa Martin in the paint and Sequoia Bradley from outside.  HU trailed 22-11 after one.

The second quarter featured eight points from Cheyenne Bean and five from Elisha Carter.  Trailing by as many as 14, Heidelberg went into halftime down 10 at 38-28.

Alma opened up a 20-point advantage early in the third with a 13-3 run. Maciaha Irving entered midway through the period and immediately contributed three-point play which seemed to invigorate the Student Princes.  Heidelberg closed the period on an 8-0 run and trailed 53-41 after three.

Bradley opened up the fourth with a 3-pointer that brought Heidelberg to within nine at 53-44. The Scots, however, responded with a 4-0 mini-run, and never led by less than 10 the rest of the way.

Sas finished the day with 28 points for the Scots, leading all scorers.

Heidelberg won the rebounding margin with 37 boards to the visitors' 32. The home squad also dished out 13 assists to Alma's 11.

Following Christmas break, Heidelberg will be back in action on January 4th as they will host conference foe John Carroll. Tip-off is slated for 7 p.m.
