Despite cutting a 15-point deficit to one, the No. 22 Heidelberg University men's basketball team was upset by The College of Wooster on Friday night, 68-65. Afterward, Emmanuel PerdueIsaiah Young were named to the E.M. "Mose" Hole/Wooster Kiwanis Classic All-Tournament Team.

Wooster shot out of the gates taking a 16-4 lead over Heidelberg, in a match where they never saw the lead. Shooting an unusually low 20% from beyond the arc and 37.9% from the field, it was difficult for the guests to find a rhythm.

After Perdue scored the first four, The Berg caught an early dry spell and wound up going five minutes without scoring. Tre Watkins, Young, Zane Leitwein and Amil Jenkins each scavenged for their own points to close it out 33-25 at the half – Heidelberg down.

In the first four minutes, Seth Hohman dropped a 3-pointer followed by layups from Young and Perdue to bring it within three. What seemed like a comeback, was quickly silenced by a Wooster 13-2 run.

With eight left in play, HU fought back with their own 14-2 run – consisting of six from Panning. Their efforts brought the score back to a manageable 58-53 Wooster advantage.

One of Hohman's two 3-pointers on the night fell at the 30-second mark, with the score 63-66. The game would be closed out by each team sinking two from the charity stripe.

Young (17) and Perdue (13) both scored double digits for the Student Princes. Eric Panning followed with eight points and 11 rebounds, while Jenkins tallied six rebounds of his own.

Heidelberg shot 10-12 from the free throw line (83.3%), while Wooster managed 6-10 (60%).

The men's basketball team will start the new year in University Heights as they face No. 8, John Carroll, in a 7 p.m. tipoff.
