A Virtual Public Open House will be held from April 4, 2023 – May 4, 2023 to present project information.
The city of Kenton, in partnership with the Ohio Department of Transportation (ODOT), is proposing a project that will address deteriorating pavement conditions, improve drainage, and enhance pedestrian accessibility along U.S. 68 (Detroit Street) from Carrol Street to just north of Eliza Street. The project is scheduled for construction in 2025. Specific roadway and drainage improvements proposed along this section of Detroit Street include:
• Reconstruct pavement
• Replace curbs and gutters
• Replace stormwater drainage and waterlines Proposed pedestrian enhancements include
:• Replace deteriorating sidewalks along both sides of the roadway
• Install ADA-compliant curb ramps at intersections This project is located within the North Main – North Detroit Street Historic District of the city of Kenton. Please refer to the project website for additional information on how this district is protected under the National Historic Preservation Act of 1966. Additionally, the City of Kenton expects that trees within the street lawn will need to be removed to facilitate the sidewalk replacement. The City plans to work with the Ohio Department of Natural Resources and the City’s Tree Commission to replant trees along the corridor. The purpose of the virtual public open house is to present project information, including the potential impacts, and receive your input. The information for this project will be presented online which will allow the public to provide valuable feedback. The project website can be accessed at https://publicinput.com/DetroitStreet or by scanning the QR code.
