On July 18, Congressman Bob Latta (R-OH5) released the following statement after voting in favor of a resolution in the U.S. House of Representatives supporting the State of Israel ahead of a Joint Address to Congress this week by Israel President Isaac Herzog:

“Israel is America’s strongest ally in the Middle East, and recent comments made by a Member of Congress claiming Israel is a ‘racist state’ are wrong. These kinds of hateful comments undermine the longstanding relationship between our two nations and aim to weaken our historic partnership. It is our duty to stand against all forms of hate, bigotry, and anti-Semitism, which are antithetical to the values and beliefs we hold as Americans.  Today, I stood in support of Israel on the U.S. House Floor and voted for a resolution that unequivocally affirms that the State of Israel is not a racist state, that we reject all forms of antisemitism and xenophobia, and that the United States will always support our friend and ally, Israel.”
