State Senator Bill Reineke (R-Tiffin) has announced that over $15.7 million has been awarded to two career technical schools in the 26th Senate District. The Career Technical Construction Program will provide nearly $200 million to 35 career tech planning districts across Ohio to construct or expand facilities on their campuses.
"Our local career technical centers are doing exceptional work for our next generation," Reineke stated. "I'm happy these funds will give them the critical tools they need and, coupled with changes in Ohio's education system, help students find their purpose and prepare them for successful careers."
The Vanguard-Sentinel Career & Technology Center in Sandusky County will receive $7,796,111 for programs such as Manufacturing/Welding, Construction Trades, and Fire/EMT. Meanwhile, the Tri-Rivers Career Center in Marion County will receive $7,910,884 for its Diesel Power Technologies, Metal Fabrication, and Welding programs.
The Career Technical Construction Program allows eligible vocational school districts to renovate, improve, or build facilities that support occupations on Ohio's Top Jobs list or qualify for the Innovative Workforce Incentive Program under the Ohio Department of Education and Workforce.
The funding for this grant program was allocated through House Bill 33, the state's main operating budget. It is administered by the Ohio Facilities Construction Commission and made possible by the American Rescue Plan Act.
This significant investment will provide the necessary resources for these career technical schools to enhance their programs and facilities, ensuring that students receive the education and training they need to succeed in the workforce.
