Congressman Bob Latta (R-OH5) has voted in favor of the No Funds for Iranian Terrorism Act, a bill that will permanently freeze the release of funds to Iran in relation to the 2023 hostage deal between the United States and Iran. In a statement, Latta expressed his concerns about Iran's support for terrorist organizations and the need to send a clear message to the Iranian regime.
Latta highlighted Iran's involvement in funding terrorist organizations such as Hamas, which recently launched a brutal attack on Israel. He emphasized the importance of taking action against Iran's support for terrorism, stating, "Here's the bottom line: the Biden administration's effort to appease Iran is wrong." Latta believes that freezing the $6 billion dollars is a necessary step to show that the United States does not condone or support terrorist activities.
The Congressman also pointed out the threat that Iran-linked groups pose to American troops stationed in the Middle East. In recent weeks, these groups have carried out attacks that have resulted in injuries to dozens of service members. Latta's vote in favor of freezing the funds is a way to protect American troops and deter future attacks.
This is not the first time that Latta has taken a stand against the Biden administration's policy towards Iran. He previously cosponsored a Congressional resolution to disapprove of the $6 billion payout to Iran. Additionally, Latta supported a Congressional resolution condemning the Hamas terrorist attack on Israel last month.
By voting in favor of the No Funds for Iranian Terrorism Act, Congressman Latta is sending a strong message to the Iranian regime and standing up against their support for terrorism. With this action, he joins other lawmakers in ensuring that American taxpayer dollars are not used to fund activities that threaten the safety and security of the United States and its allies.
