Lenna Dentinger, a third-grade student at Mohawk Elementary, has won the 6th Annual Dog License Coloring Contest, securing the highly sought-after 2024 #1 dog license. The judges were particularly impressed by Dentinger's vibrant artwork that featured her German Shorthaired Pointer, Fred, and its imaginative details.
According to the press release, Dentinger was both surprised and excited about her win. A repeat contest winner, she had added lively details to her winning artwork. It depicted a dog playing in the grass amidst elements such as a sun, flying birds, and a river teeming with fish.
In the same press release, Dentinger explained her creative process. She said, "I just thought of a little bit of extra. The grass was kind of tall in the picture, and grass is tall by creeks, so I figured I would put a little river in there and put some fish in it."
The contest is hosted by Seneca County Auditor Julie Adkins.
The press release also highlighted important information for dog owners. To avoid penalties under state law, they must purchase a 2024 dog license by January 31. Licenses are priced at $15.00 for one year, $45.00 for three years, and $150.00 for permanent ownership. They can be acquired online at www.senecacountyauditor.org or at the Auditor’s Office in Tiffin which operates from Monday through Friday between 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.. However, three-year and permanent licenses are available exclusively at the office and are non-refundable should the animal pass away or be transferred to a new owner. Late fees will not be waived after the deadline and inquiries can be directed to the Auditor’s Office at 419-447-0692.
