The City of Kenton has been awarded funding for water and sewer infrastructure upgrades, according to an announcement by State Rep. Jon Cross. The Ohio EPA, in partnership with the Ohio Department of Development, has granted the city $5 million from the Water and Wastewater Infrastructure Grant program, along with a $500,000 0% loan from the Ohio EPA.

"I am committed to ensuring our tax dollars come back to serve the 83rd House district," said Cross. "Water infrastructure is a critical piece of the foundation of our community, and it is critical we make these investments to ensure generations to come can flourish in Ohio."

The funding will be used for several specific projects in Kenton. The upgrades include the upgrade of 12-inch water mains on Franklin, Main, Columbus, and Detroit Streets, as well as 8-inch water mains on Market, Carrol, Wayne, and Ohio Streets. Additionally, a redundant 12-inch main will be installed under the Scioto River to provide a reliable connection to the plant. The project will also involve the repair and/or replacement of all infrastructure, including water mains, and storm and sanitary sewers, to reduce the number of water main breaks and infiltration into sewers.

The Water and Wastewater Infrastructure Grant funding was secured by the Ohio House in the most recent state budget. This funding will greatly benefit the City of Kenton and its residents by improving the water and sewer systems and ensuring a reliable and efficient infrastructure for years to come.

The City of Kenton expressed gratitude for the funding and the opportunity to undertake these important upgrades. Mayor Kristina Roessler stated, "We are thrilled to receive this funding to improve our water and sewer infrastructure. This investment will have a significant impact on the quality of life for our residents and businesses."

The Ohio EPA and the Ohio Department of Development are pleased to support the City of Kenton in its efforts to enhance its water and sewer systems. The funding provided will contribute to the overall development and growth of the city, as well as ensure the well-being and prosperity of its residents.

With the awarded funding, the City of Kenton is now equipped to proceed with these crucial water and sewer infrastructure projects. The improvements will strengthen the city's infrastructure, reduce the occurrence of water main breaks, and enhance the overall efficiency and reliability of the water and sewer systems.

The City of Kenton is looking forward to the successful completion of these projects, and the positive impact they will have on the community. As State Rep. Jon Cross said, "It is critical we make these investments to ensure generations to come can flourish in Ohio."
