State Senator Bill Reineke (R-Tiffin), Chair of the Senate Energy and Public Utilities Committee, recently hosted a joint meeting with members of the Ohio House Energy and Natural Resources and Public Utilities Committee and the Pennsylvania Senate Environmental Resources and Energy Committee. The purpose of the meeting was to address energy policy implications and community concerns regarding PJM, with a specific focus on the need for reliable, sustainable, and affordable energy.

During the meeting, Senator Reineke emphasized the importance of reliable resources to power Ohio's booming economy. He stated, "Our goal and objective is to get the facts and understand them so we can enact good, strong energy policy so all Ohioans can keep the lights on. We also need to stand up for ourselves against rushed energy policy at all levels that does not correlate with our needs and wants."

The committee had the opportunity to hear from two panels, which included insights from Asim Haque from the PJM Interconnection, Chair Jenifer French of the Public Utilities Commission of Ohio, and energy industry leaders. These experts provided valuable information and perspectives on the energy landscape.

This meeting builds upon a similar gathering held in Pennsylvania last year. By bringing together legislators and industry professionals from both Ohio and Pennsylvania, the aim is to foster collaboration and ensure that energy policies are aligned with the needs and desires of the respective states.

The discussions held during the meeting will help inform the development of future energy policies in Ohio and Pennsylvania. By seeking a better understanding of the challenges and opportunities presented by PJM, the committees are working towards the goal of providing reliable, sustainable, and affordable energy to their constituents.

Senator Reineke's commitment to finding effective energy solutions for Ohio was echoed by other participants in the meeting. This collaborative effort between legislators and industry experts is a positive step towards addressing the energy needs of the region.

Overall, the joint meeting hosted by Senator Reineke provided a platform for fruitful discussions and valuable insights. As Ohio and Pennsylvania continue to prioritize energy policy, it is essential to have open dialogues that consider all perspectives and ensure that the decisions made benefit the communities they serve.
