Congressman Bob Latta (R-OH5) recently acknowledged and honored students from Ohio’s Fifth Congressional District for their acceptance into the U.S. Military Service Academies. The recognition took place at a reception on Sunday, May 5th, at Camp Perry in Port Clinton. These students were nominated by Latta and have received offers of appointment for the Class of 2028 at their respective academies.

"It was a privilege to nominate these young students from Ohio’s Fifth District to attend one of our prestigious U.S. Military Service Academies,” Latta said. “I was honored to thank them in person for being willing to step up and serve our country. As they embark on their next chapter, I’m filled with pride knowing these students will continue to lead with distinction, and I want to wish them the best of luck.”

The following students received appointments:

At the U.S. Air Force Academy in Colorado Springs, Colorado: Michael Kinzel from Bowling Green High School, Northwestern Preparatory School; Nicholas Geraci from North Ridgeville High School, University of Akron; Jake Wood from Perrysburg High School.

At the U.S. Military Academy in West Point, New York: Elizabeth Iliff from Marion Steele High School.

At the U.S. Naval Academy in Annapolis, Maryland: Devin Ramirez and Dane Janis both from Marion Steele High School; Carter Altstaetter from Celina High School.

The event was commemorated with a group photo featuring Devin Ramirez, Dane Janis, Carter Altstaetter, Congressman Bob Latta, Nicholas Geraci, Elizabeth Iliff, and Jake Wood.
