Today, Congressman Bob Latta from Ohio has been appointed as the Chair of the Energy and Commerce's Subcommittee on Energy for the 119th Congress. The appointment was made by Congressman Brett Guthrie, the incoming Chairman of the Energy and Commerce Committee.

Latta expressed his commitment to addressing critical energy issues. "Next year, the Energy and Commerce Committee will lead the way in delivering tangible solutions to our nation’s most pressing issues, which includes restoring U.S. energy dominance to strengthen our national security and lower costs for the American people," he stated. He also thanked Guthrie for selecting him and looked forward to collaborating with Congressman Randy Weber, Vice Chair of the Energy Subcommittee.

Guthrie commented on Latta's new role: "I look forward to working with Congressman Latta in his role as Chair of the Subcommittee on Energy. Congressman Latta will lead the way to fuel domestic energy production and ensure Americans have access to reliable energy while expanding the use of innovative proven sources, like nuclear."

Ohio's Fifth Congressional District, represented by Latta, is a hub for manufacturing jobs and agricultural income. The district depends heavily on various energy sources such as oil, natural gas, clean coal, hydropower, wind, solar, nuclear, and biofuel.

Previously, Latta served as Chair of E&C's Subcommittee on Communications and Technology and Chair of E&C's Subcommittee on Digital Commerce and Consumer Protection.
