Today, Congressman Bob Latta participated in the 2025 March for Life event in Washington, D.C., joining others from Ohio and across the nation. In addition to his attendance, Latta reintroduced two bills focused on pro-life issues. This week, the U.S. House also advanced a bill cosponsored by Latta, known as the Born-Alive Abortion Survivors Protection Act.
Latta expressed his views stating, "I'm a firm believer that all life is precious, which means we must protect the most vulnerable in our society, including moms, babies, and the unborn." He added that he appreciated seeing many people who share this sentiment at the March for Life. He emphasized his commitment to protecting life and advancing legislation aimed at defending those unable to defend themselves.
The first of Latta's proposed bills is the Support and Value Expectant (SAVE) Moms and Babies Act. This legislation aims to prevent changes in labeling for approved abortion drugs and restricts their remote dispensing via mail or telemedicine. It also seeks to prevent new chemical abortion drugs' approval by the FDA.
The second bill is titled Protecting the Dignity of Unborn Children Act. This proposal would criminalize disposing of aborted fetal remains in landfills or navigable waters within the United States.
Additionally, on Thursday, the U.S. House passed the Born-Alive Abortion Survivors Protection Act. This act mandates healthcare practitioners present during an abortion or attempted abortion where a child is born alive to provide care equivalent to that given to any other child born at a similar gestational age and ensure immediate hospital admission for such children.
