Congressman Bob Latta (R-OH5) has criticized the Biden administration for its lack of leadership in securing the southern border. His statement comes after Customs and Border Protection reported a record number of migrant encounters in a single day along the United States' southern border.

Latta stated, "Day by day, the crisis at the southern border continues to spiral out of control. The fact is, President Joe Biden and Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas have allowed chaos to reign at the southern border. Under their watch, the southern border has become a haven for drug cartels and bad actors who exploit migrants and lax southern border policies."

He further expressed concern about the rise in human trafficking and the influx of illicit drugs, specifically mentioning fentanyl. Latta emphasized the urgency of the situation, stating, "Now tens of thousands of Americans are dying of fentanyl overdoses."

Latta called for immediate action to restore law and order at the southern border. He urged the Biden administration to enforce existing laws and focus their attention and resources on securing the southern border. Latta also called upon the Senate to advance the Secure the Border Act, which was passed by the House earlier this year.

In conclusion, Latta emphasized, "For the safety and wellbeing of all American communities, President Biden and Secretary Mayorkas must focus their attention and resources on securing the southern border. To do otherwise would be a dereliction of duty."

The statement from Congressman Latta highlights the growing concerns about the situation at the southern border and calls for decisive action to address the crisis.
