COLUMBUS – State Rep. Anita Somani (D-Dublin) today addressed the concerns of many Ohioans following Governor Mike DeWine’s State of the State address, stating that a significant portion of the population believes the state is headed in the wrong direction. House Democrats are committed to creating a better future for all Ohioans by prioritizing people's needs.

"Last year Ohioans overwhelmingly voted in favor of reproductive rights and against concentrating more power at the Statehouse. Currently, Ohio is one of the ten most gerrymandered states in the country. This has allowed the Republicans to ignore the will of the people for too long. We need to support citizens, not politicians, as they work for redistricting reform so we can accomplish more for Ohio at the Statehouse,” said Rep. Somani.

For several elections, Republicans have held a supermajority in the state legislature, which does not accurately reflect Ohio's demographic makeup. "It is time that we start putting the people first," added Rep. Somani.
